Neil Gehani | Founding Sherpa, Mind Lumen
Neil is a passionate advocate for safe and ethical access to psychedelics. Driven by his own personal journey of healing, he is on a mission to help others. He leverages his years of experience in Silicon Valley to support the burgeoning field of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Bridging the gap
Neil is a 2x Founder, 3x Head of Product. A 20+ year career in Silicon Valley, California, building software products in security, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS platforms.
It took Neil ~3 years to find the help he needed, with a lot of friction in the process. He decided to dedicate his life to helping others by applying his skills, knowledge, and personal experience, so others don't have to face the same difficulties that he faced when seeking care. Mind Lumen matches SEEKERS to ethical and reputable providers of mental health services. It also acts as the audit and accounting ethics watchdog for the industry since it is SEEKER centric without conflicts of interest. His passion for building a community oriented, decentralized, regenerative economic model, is in line with his ethics and philosophy.
Building Collaborative Communities
He has been bringing people together and building community. He has been active in education and policy work to focus on harm reduction and decriminalization of non-addictive plant-based medicines and de-stigmatizing mental health within Asian communities in the US and abroad. He has been a guest on numerous podcasts and spoken at Oxford University at the first ever bioethics conference on the practical ethics of mental health care - now a permanent joint program between Johns Hopkins and Oxford University, called HOPE. The consensus statement on ethics is published.
He co-created the Bay Area Asian Psychedelic Society (join if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area) and just started the Thai Asian Psychedelic Society (join if you live in Thailand). Getting together in-person builds deeper and more meaningful connections.
He is working on a podcast series "The Asian Psychedelic Closet" to de-stigmatize mental health within Asian communities. Asias can join to be a guest and tell their stories, anonymously if they wish. It’s a safe space. Asians can speak in their own language and cultural context.
Advocate for Education and Policy
He has been an advocate for democratizing safe and ethical access to plant-medicine. He’s moderated a panel on education, science, innovation, and policy. Worked with legislators to pass decriminalization bills in California and San Francisco. He is one of the key administrators of the Decrim First movement and group. He educates organizations on how to implement ethics practices that are observable and measurable in their mental health & wellness businesses.
Service Offerings
He likes to DJ and mix music in his spare time and create customized playlists for psychedelic journeys. He also offers free coaching & mental health & wellbeing counseling sessions twice a week.
